We were given a Seagate Expansion Portable Drive that was not spinning due to being dropped on concrete. When we looked at the drive, we found that it was not spinning, but it was making a very subtle beeping noise that was not noticable until you put your ear to the drive.

Once we worked out what the issue was, we were able to get the drive up and running again. Due to the damage, we were able to recover the most important data, but unfortunately not all other data. Fortunately the other data was not vital, and we were able to restore all the personal photos from the last few years.

Around 40% of the data was saved, but it was all the data they were really after. The other data would have been just a bonus.
