We recover and repair external hard drives from a variety of external hard drive manufacturers.
Each external HDD has its own peculiarities. Western digital passports for example can slow down, lose access to your files, then your folders and then the complete drive. This is quite common when they do fail, and we have a greater than 90% success rate in this type of recovery (do not believe any company that professes over 95% success in data recovery, or they are not getting any difficult ones).
Toshiba Canvio external drives can fail in a number of ways. check to see if the drive is making a noise, and if not, it is a good sign that recovery should be possible. Even if the drive is making the most horrendous noises, it can still be recovered in many cases, unless the platters have been scratched extensively(as that is where the data is stored).
Seagate external drives have their own set of issues as well, with the expansion drives sometimes failing without notice. If this is the case, stop trying anything and call us immediately.
There are also other types of external drives from the Lacie and Buffalo, to the most generic external HDD. We can look at them all and see what we can do to restore your information.
