We received in a drive with the above parameters today which was showing the typical Seagate “Brick” symptoms. The drive would spin up, but not become ready.
The Drive was making a slightly different noise than it normally would, but no clicking, clunking or anything very out of the norm.
The drive had a suspected firmware issue, which the normal repair for this type of problem did not work. the drive would not spin up again once the repair was initiated.
We did have one of these in a year or so ago with the same issue, so I searched for the solution, and finally found it.
We applied the repair to the problematic hard drive and the issue was fixed. We are copying off data as we speak.
Luckily, we did not have to open the drive, as doing so would have not resolved the issue.
All data recovered without error.
